Oh, Hello!

My name is Max James, and it’s my job to entertain you!

I'm a DJ, emcee, and trumpet player living in Kansas City. I've been DJing since I was 15 and playing the trumpet since I was 9. Since my freshman year of college, I’ve worked as a wedding DJ, spending nearly every weekend helping couples make memories on the most important days of their lives. When I’m not working a wedding, you can usually find me performing in bars and clubs around the KC metro! If I’m not doing that, you can probably catch me DMing a game of Dungeons and Dragons or watching a Marvel movie.

My classical training in trumpet, especially in jazz, has given me a pretty unique perspective when it comes to music. I’m always listening for some way to mix songs that have no business being together. Fun fact: Usher and Brendon Urie actually sound great as a duet!

On the note of fun facts, I also run Intelligence Check Trivia! It started as a side gig where I could develop my mic work, and ended up becoming a wonderful way to express myself while being a giant dork. Now you can find me and my team across the Midwest, nearly every weekday joking around about our favorite subjects.

All this to say - I love my job!
